Cedar Cove Days Volunteers Wanted

Port Orchard, WA, OCTOBER 23, 2008: Cedar Cove Association of Port Orchard, Washington is accepting applications from individuals and/or organizations interested in volunteering for Cedar Cove Days, a Debbie Macomber-inspired literary festival in Port Orchard, Washington, set for August 26-30, 2009.
The event invites Debbie Macomber’s thousands of fans to come to Port Orchard to celebrate the release of her ninth book and partake in the Cedar Cove Days festival planned for them. Organizers expect many out of town guests to come enjoy cruises, teas, tours, vendors, concerts, speaking engagements, character parade, sock hop with Junior Cadillac, and closing ceremonies featuring a pancake breakfast. The planners are now looking for volunteers to help with the event. “This is such a great opportunity for Port Orchard; to not only show our hospitality but to put on a quality event that celebrates our award winning author, all the while promoting our great town. Volunteers are needed now, some to head up committees, and others to serve as their schedules allow. We know many of our citizens want to participate, and we hope to use this local talent to give our out of town guests a great experience", says Executive Director, Cindy Lucarelli. The Kiana Gala Cruise with Debbie tickets are now on sale at the event website, with one of the three packages, the Ultimate Package having sold out. In addition to those, another offering will be the Teas at Debbie’s Victorian Rose Tea Room. Those tickets go on sale Sunday, October 26, 2008 at 3 PM PST. Organizers will be adding more events and tickets over the next few months, so those interested in attending should monitor the website for times and dates. Harlequin To be a sponsor of Cedar Cove Days
A DEBBIE MACOMBER-INSPIRED EVENT
Port Orchard, WA, JULY 11, 2008: Cedar Cove Association of Port Orchard, Washington announces that Harlequin Enterprises, LTD of Toronto, Canada, has agreed to be a sponsor of Cedar Cove Days, a Debbie Macomber-inspired literary festival in Port Orchard, Washington, set for August 26-30, 2009.
Macomber is an award-winning author from Port Orchard, whose novels published under the Harlequin MIRA imprint consistently score at the top of all the national bestseller lists. Her Cedar Cove series portrays a fictional town in the Pacific northwest that just happens to be her own Port Orchard, Washington. Macomber’s 2007 Cedar Cove book, 74 Seaside Avenue, rocketed to #1 on the New York Times, USA Today and Publishers Weekly bestseller lists. The eighth in the series, 8 Sandpiper Way, will be released on August 26 of this year.The Cedar Cove Days festival idea was brought to Macomber by a group of local citizens in September 2007. The author enthusiastically embraced the concept of bringing her thousands of fans to Cedar Cove/Port Orchard. The organizing group created Cedar Cove Association, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation. Then, recently, two members of the group, Jerry Childs, a Port Orchard City Councilman, and Cindy Lucarelli, Executive Director of Cedar Cove Association, flew to Toronto to pitch the event to Macomber’s publisher, Harlequin.
“We still have money to raise locally,” said Executive Director Lucarelli, but the much-appreciated backing of Harlequin sets us on a course that assures success for our August 2009 event.”
